3 easy ways to help the environment from today onward

If the condition of the environment is an important topic for you, this note is definitely a great look up into the easy ways of helping our planet.

I am a passionate eco supporter. It’s a topic that always calls my attention. At the end, we do have only this planet to live, and I don’t want to be ashamed, if one day new generation will asked me a question on – why haven’t we done something, when there was still time? I believe that supporting eco welfare, is a doable action for literally anyone. I am staying on a side of the case with people who believes that change starts with an action of a single person, and that together we can achieve big things.

That is why, I know that to support our planet we don’t have to particularly start with something outrages. We can easily begin with some small steps. Here’s are few of my suggestion for the aspiring eco-supporters out there

CUT THE MEAT FROM YOUR DIET
No one is asking for a drastic cut off. You can do it little by little. How about, instead of eating meat 7 days per week, you’ll try to do it only during 5 days. Trust me, that change will not only help the environment, it will also help your body to regenerate from a daily, heavy digestion. Also – eat more poultry instead of red meat. Scientists say that number of CO2 produced by cows is extremely higher than the one produced by cars. Chickens don’t eat so much and don’t produce that much of feces. Fresher air, less global warming indicators.

RECYCLE PAPER, BATTERIES, PLASTIC, GLASS AND MORE
Simple change of 3 containers instead of one, can easily help with the segregation of our trash. Think about how much trash and how often you have to take out. Than multiply it with a number of people that lives in your neighborhood. A lot of trash, isn’t it? Helping with the process of segregation isn’t something that takes too much of your time, and will always make a difference. Remember that not every type of unwanted material can be throw away so easily. Used batteries for instance, should be collected and taken out to places that offers they storage. They contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and nickel; simple thrown away in the trash can cause the leak of those dangerous for health metals.

BUY LESS STUFF
To be completely fair with yourself, make some revisions in places like – your closet, your kitchen and your bathroom. How often do you wear each and every piece of your clothes? Do you eat all the food that you are buying weekly? How many face creams, shower gels or nail polish do you own? Think how you can adapt your clothes to your current fashion style. Make some changes- add something, cut something, have fun with the fashion. While buying food, think twice if you will be able to eat your veggies before they will go bad. Look closely at labels and check the expirations dates before buying a product. Old facial creams, that you don’t want to use anymore, adapt for a different parts of your body. Check how amazing coconut oil is, and how many cosmetics can it cover.

Is it doable? Let me know your thoughts!

5 quick snacks you can carry along with you everywhere

Are you familiar with a nutrient rule of eating less but more frequently? The specialist are suggesting to cut the size of each main meal and instead, not to forget about small portions of snacks, that should fulfill needs of your body. There are many options. What’s important. is to focus on types of food that can bring a potion of needed energy and, at the same time, fill your body with needed vitamins and minerals.

Here are 5 of my favorite types of snacks. What is great is that, most of them I can prepare myself and carry around in my bag. Check them out and let me know which you think are best!

Nuts

What I love about them is that they are rich in energy, protein, packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and much discussed omega-3 fatty acids. Crunchy and delicious are easy to carry along, without a need of a special container. You can mix them together with seeds or choose your favorite type. No worries for them to get bad soon, as they are not easily perishable. The only thing you have to think about, is not to overdose them, as they are caloric. Also, eaten in big portions, might cause some stomach aches.

Dry Fruits

Similar as nuts and seeds, dry fruits can easily fulfill your body with needed minerals and vitamins. Sweet and soft are less agressive for your stomach. You can buy them at a shop or prepare at home. Use a fruit dryer or your oven. This way you can be sure, they have no extra sugar included. I like to slice my apples and dry them on a low temperature, in my cooker. I mix them with some raisins and carry around in a small container. Delicious!

Granola Bars

How many times, while being hungry, you are dreaming of having a Snickers? I know the feeling. Not a bad choice, if not for being high in calories and processed oils.
An alternative? Home made granola bars. You can easily prepare them at home. They last for a long time and there are variety of ingredients you can load them with. My favorite recipe you may find right here.

Veggie chips

I don’t mean potato chips you have an easy access to, on every market shelf. Sure, they are delicious, but loaded with oil. What I have in mind are dry beetroots, carrots, celery root and sweet potato. You can buy them in some eco shops, or prepare as the fruits in your oven. This way, they are even more delicious.

Dark Chocolate

Quality dark chocolate with a high cocoa content (more than 70%) is actually quite nutritious. It contains a decent amount of soluble fiber and is loaded with minerals – iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, zinc and selenium. Of course it is not like you can eat as much as you want, because 100g of dark chocolate contains 600 calories and moderate amounts of sugar. But if you feel like chocolate today, you should definitely try one or two pieces.

Superfood – Cauliflower

Looking for healthy inspiration for a dinner? Cauliflower is known as a powerful veggie. It contains sulforaphane, which has been shown to kill cancer stem cells. For instance, research has shown that combining cauliflower with curcumin (the active compound in the spice turmeric) may help prevent and treat prostate cancer. Sulforaphane in cauliflower and other cruciferous vegetables has […]
