Be the change – Part 1

I am a person who believes that a thing, we need in live most, is Balance. There is a time for joy with some pure hedonism, and there is a time for hardwork and challenges.
I am trying to follow these believes in each and every area of my live. That’s why I recycle,
I am trying not to buy too much clothes, I am using a bike as a form of my transport and
I excluded animals from my diet. I believe that a change starts on the line of a single person. And I want to contribute to what is still good out there, in the world.

There are people who dedicated their lives for a bigger cause. I am always inspired by them and their work. I’d like to mention few of the projects that missions are close to my heart. And as that being said, I want to start here a series of notes about the projects, which fights for the good things in world. I believe that spreading the word about their job is something right to do. It is something important.

The Clean Ocean Project

It’s a non-governmental organization based on Fuertaventura. I have found their shop once I have visited El Cotillo, in the summer of 2015. They were selling some great pieces of clothing made from bamboo material. The money supports the NGO itself.

The Clean Ocean Project was founded to protect the oceans, waves and beaches, and as they announcing themselves: Our approach is simple, we are driven by the idea that everybody is part of the problem – and the solution. Do your bit, be part of it.

It’s just that simple. And the outcome of each and everyone responsible act on the beach could bring the needed change. How many times have you seen the trash that the waves brought onto the beach? It did not appeared there by itself. People tend to leave a pile of their garbage behind, while coming back from the day at the beach. This is unacceptable!

Last year I have traveled to Indonesia and I have never seen so many beautiful beaches with so many trash on it. I was actually snorkeling in the spot next to Nusa Ceningan (Bali) surrounded by plastic cups, fisherman strings and some used toothbrushes. It was so disgusting I couldn’t even appreciate the underwater world around me. This view really hit me. That is why I am trying to support as much as I can initiatives like The Clean Ocean Project, aside from the actual, cleaning the beach whenever I am, myself.

Healthy Breakfast Choices

Breakfast being the most important meal of the day, shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
It has to bring the energy for the full day, being rich in proteins, fiber, minerals and vitamins. These are three, of my personal favorite, selections for a lovely morning time.

Oatmeal with some extras

I love this kind of breakfast as it’s not only super tasty, but also easy and quick to prepare. Into a small bowl I am chopping 1 banana, adding an extra fruit (berries/ mango/ apple), getting 1 table spoon of almonds/walnuts in plus 3 table spoons of oats, a pinch of cinnamon and finishing it with 200ml of rice milk. Oats are great source of minerals (manganese!) and fiber. Fruits are bringing needed vitamins. Rice milk stands for the proteins and the nuts are rich in good fats. Mixed all together makes me feel full, yet not overwhelm with food

Avocado + veggie variation omelet

This is a meal that I am preparing mostly during the weekends when I have more time in the morning. I love the combination of eggs and avocado. It brings out the best from each of the ingredients. I like to mix 2 eggs with 1 tablespoon of grain flour, some spices and cook it on coconut oil. While it’s still on the first side I am adding half of an avocado in and some feta or mozzarella cheese on the top. After a while, I turn it to let the second side cook well. Usually I serve it with tomatoes and some baby spinach leaves on a side. This way I am having a healthy meal full of proteins, good fats, and minerals. Plus – it looks amazing on the plate!

Rich Smoothie

I love preparing smoothie breakfast. I love it even more if I am in a hurry. Mixed before at home, goes with me for the metro. I like to do the fruity versions on the ice-cubs, but even more I love the ones prepared on vegetarian milk, where I can add some soaked oats as well. That way the breakfast is more rich in fiber and minerals. My favorite mix is banana with 2 tablespoons of oats, 200ml of almond milk and pinch of cinnamon. I love it also with peaches and blueberries. Brings my body exactly what it wants.

Superfood – Walnuts

Walnuts are one of the few rich sources of plant-derived omega-3 fatty acids. They are also rich in plant sterols, which can play a significant role in lowering serum cholesterol levels. More good news – they are anti-cancer, they can easily boost heart health, and be the natural anti-depressants, that sometimes we all need.

Skin Quick Scan! Spring is almost here!

Winter time is not best for our skin. Especially for the face skin, which happens to be most exposed to every day struggle. Mix of cool air outside and the warm heat from indoors can make some damages to its delicate structure.
As weekend is almost here, check some of the face masks that you may easily prepare home with just few indigents and prepare your skin for upcoming spring!

In case you have a dry skin – Avocado + Honey + Coconut Oil

This is a great mask for dry, peeling and scaling skin. Both avocado and coconut oil provide deep moisture, while the honey helps to heal any chafed or raw areas.

1/2 of an avocado mix with 2 tablespoons of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil until it will become smooth. Apply to your face, avoiding your eyes, and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. At the end of the process rinse your face with warm water in the shower. Voila!

In case your skin looks puffy and toxicated – Coffee + Cocoa Powder + Honey + Yogurt

What is so special about this mask ,is that the caffeine from coffee grounds will help to reduce swelling and puffiness on your face. By adding cocoa you will apply also a source of the antioxidants which help to reduce aging.

Mix 2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee with 2 tablespoons of pure cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of yogurt. Prepared mask put on your face for about 10 minutes, and later wash it off.

In case of oily face problems – Strawberrie + Lemon + Yogurt + Honey

Either it is a full face oily problem of just the T-section, try this amazing mask to get rid of the problem. Strawberries contain salicylic acid which is great for acne-prone skin. Lemon juice helps to tighten pores and remove old, dead skin cells. Yogurt and honey have antibiotic properties. All together deliver perfect solution for your oily skin.

Mix 1/4 cup of mashed strawberries with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply evenly all over your face and let sit 8-10 minutes. Wash it off after.

In case you have egzema or acne – Oats + Honey + Yogurt
Oatmeal is great for soothing rough, angry skin and for helping to heal eczema and acne breakouts. Paired with honey and yogurt, it’s a calming and revitalizing mask for all skin types

Mix 1/3 cup of instant oatmeal with 1/2 cup of hot water. After it will cool down add 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Mix it all together and apply for your face and your decolletage. Wash off after 15 minutes. Smooth skin guaranteed!
